WT Group AEC, LLC partnered with Glogovsky Oil Company, Inc. to transform the long-vacant Scooters site into a vibrant new quick-service restaurant that honors a beloved local landmark while creating a fresh destination for the community. Once a neighborhood hot dog stand that had remained closed for years, Scooters held a special place in the hearts of Lake Bluff and Lake Forest residents, making its return highly anticipated.

The project included a complete renovation of both the interior and exterior, featuring a brand-new commercial kitchen, updated dining spaces, an inviting outdoor seating area, and contemporary signage that reintroduced the iconic restaurant to the neighborhood. Designed to blend modern functionality with the familiar character that residents remembered, the revitalized restaurant has quickly become a community gathering place once again.

Since opening in June, Scooters has experienced overwhelming customer demand, drawing visitors from across the North Shore and exceeding expectations. Its success has been so significant that plans for future building expansion are already underway, demonstrating the lasting value of thoughtful redevelopment and community-focused design.
